Every day, more than 4,700 people are diagnosed with cancer.
One out of three people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
These statistics mean cancer affects everyone: our parents, siblings, partners, children, friends—the people we love and would do anything to save.
At The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), our vision is to create a cancer-free world, one person, one discovery at a time.
We are making daily advances in areas such as cell therapy, immunotherapy and precision cancer medicine, while we use science to create individualized treatments for each patient. But this research needs financial support to continue.
By making a gift to the OSUCCC – James, you commit to transformational research in cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment. Our researchers are cutting-edge innovators who bring their innovations from the lab directly to our patients.
Just last year, Dr. David Carbone and his colleagues at The James developed a way to use the body’s own immune system to destroy cancer cells. This type of immunotherapy doubles the likelihood of survival for people with localized lung cancer.
Researchers at The James also developed a new, one-step process for determining whether someone has a gene mutation that causes Lynch syndrome. This inherited disorder dramatically increases a person’s chances for developing several types of cancer, including colon cancer and uterine cancer.
In 2018, donors like you were key to helping us participate in 129 new clinical trials in more than 900 ongoing studies. This quantity and quality of research allows one in four patients at the OSUCCC – James to take part in a clinical trial—well above the national average.
“Clinical trials move the needle forward. Every drug we use today was once part of a clinical trial, and we’re curing more and more people because of clinical trials,” says Bhuvaneswari Ramaswamy, MD, the chair of the Clinical Scientific Review Committee.
Join us in creating a cancer-free world. Give to the OSUCCC – James.
