Move to PROSPER
You can help Columbus children and families by giving to Move to PROSPER

For many low-income families in Central Ohio, it can be challenging to find affordable rental housing options in neighborhoods that offer abundant opportunities for success.  Move to PROSPER (Providing Relocation Opportunities to Stable Positive Environments) provides access to quality schools, safe neighborhoods and opportunities for employment. This accessibility for low-income families is achieved by providing rental support in high-opportunity communities, and coaching toward achieving their financial, career, educational and wellness goals. Move to PROSPER aims to not only develop a sustainable, opportunity-based housing program, but to also spark an important dialogue about the impact that affordable housing can have on the Columbus community.

Central Ohio is experiencing exciting growth for residents, new and established, but programs like Move to PROSPER have become increasingly important in ensuring overall positive outcomes, especially for our low-income families. Studies show that even a few years of living in a high-opportunity neighborhood has a lifelong, positive impact on children. By making a gift to Move to PROSPER, you can forever change the lives of those children and their families. Your support will help with rental payments, ensure equal opportunities for families across our community, and fund programs and workshops designed to educate families on how to maintain their financial, educational, career and overall wellness.

In the Columbus area, a worker needs to earn $36,560 annually to afford the market-rate rent of $914 for a two-bedroom apartment. In Columbus or surrounding areas, rental rates have risen at least 22 percent in the last five years, and in some neighborhoods like Bexley, rates have risen 34 percent, pushing residents out of their homes. Move to PROSPER will specifically work with women-led families with children under the age of 13 and assist them with affordable housing in high-rent and high-opportunity neighborhoods, leading to better lifetime outcomes for children and families.
