At the Center for Advanced Functional Foods Research and Entrepreneurship, we believe in the power of food to transform health. Since 2005, our interdisciplinary center—bringing together scientists, medical professionals, and policy experts from eight colleges across The Ohio State University—has been leading research on functional foods through our unique approach: “From Crops to the Clinic to the Consumer.”
Our members have published groundbreaking studies on functional foods and phytochemicals, advancing the concept of “Food as Medicine.” These discoveries demonstrate how diet plays a critical role in preventing and treating diseases, including cancer, and improving health outcomes for diverse populations.
But innovation starts with opportunity. Traditional federal funding only supports large-scale clinical trials—leaving early-stage research without the resources it needs to grow. That’s where you come in.
Your philanthropic support of the Cultivating a Cure: Foods for Health Research Initiative Fund (318220) provides seed grants that empower researchers to explore new ideas, develop pilot studies, and share knowledge across disciplines. These grants are the spark that ignites breakthroughs—fueling the science that leads to better treatments and healthier lives.
