Featured Fund for Day of Giving
The Dean’s Strategic Initiatives Fund supports a timely response to critical issues with the Moritz College of Law. This fund provides the financial flexibility to empower the dean to proactively address situations impacting our students, personnel and daily operations while advancing the college’s position as an elite public law school.
Why Your Gift Matters
Your gift propels Moritz’s place as an elite public law school that can continue to offer exceptional learning experiences and programs. From moot court and mock trial to legal clinics where students, (under faculty supervision) provide free or low-cost legal assistance to individuals and nonprofits — there are numerous opportunities for students to practice law and lead with integrity.
When you make a donation, you support Mortiz’s overall ability to provide coursework, pro bono requirements and public service programs through which students learn that the law is a tool for community betterment. Graduates go on to serve as advocates, policymakers, judges and civic leaders who shape fairer systems and strengthen their communities — thanks to the generosity of donors like you.
Impact in Action
Your impact can be seen in powerful programs and experiences for students — programs like our Externship Program that allows students to gain practical, hands-on experience in the judiciary, government offices, nonprofit organizations and corporate legal departments.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, 140 students externed across 69 sites. “I could not have asked for a better experience to learn about compliance and healthcare law! This externship has been a valuable and eye-opening experience— both professionally and personally,” shares a recent program participant. Another shares, “When you have the opportunity to do real-world work, take it! I enjoyed learning firsthand what in-house legal work is like. I completed a wide variety of projects, got to know several talented attorneys, and shadowed the legal team in a variety of meetings and settings that helped me learn key communication, organization, and analytical skills.”
